10th District Legislators Call on Governor and Attorney General to Assist Local Law Enforcement with Future ‘Pop-up Parties’
Legislation Sponsored by the Lawmakers Would Enhance Penalties for Riots
In an effort to stop “pop up parties” at the source and penalize those who promote, and attend, Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano have sponsored legislation to protect tourists, residents and businesses at the Jersey Shore. The 10th District Legislators point to Governor Murphy and the Attorney General for their lack of action to assist local law enforcement prior to these chaotic events, and request a coordinated plan be implemented to address the public safety concern.

The bill S-1206 expands the definition of a riot and enhances penalties for certain crimes committed during a riot. In addition, the bill creates new crimes of mob intimidation and cyber-intimidation by publication. Many of these “pop up parties” are circulated and gain popularity on social media platforms such as Tik-Tok and Instagram.
Repeal Dems’ Anti-Cop Law that Puts Students and Voters at Risk, Say Ocean County Lawmakers
Democrats’ anti-cop crusade in the Legislature is having real-life and dangerous consequences, say Sen. Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano. The Ocean County lawmakers are planning to introduce legislation that would repeal a law banning law enforcement from polling stations and ballot drop boxes on election days.
When the measure (A4655) to keep cops from polling places came to the Assembly floor last session, Republicans warned of its potential dangers while Democrats claimed it was necessary to prevent voter intimidation.
10th District Legislators Introduce Resolution Urging Congress to Reinstate Military Members Discharged for Refusing COVID-19 Vaccine
Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano have introduced a resolution which urges Congress to reinstate U.S. service members who were forcibly discharged from duty in response to COVID-19 vaccine mandates. This resolution comes in response to several Marines from Ocean County who were discharged for opting out of the vaccine which prompted Congressman Chris Smith to introduce H.R. 7570.

“Our military service members have given so much to preserve our freedoms and they should not be punished for making a personal medical decision,” stated Senator Holzapfel. “Our legislation is urging Congress to do the right thing and allow the brave men and women of our nation the opportunity to continue their service while receiving the benefits they rightfully deserve.”
10th District Lawmakers Introduce Bill that Would Increase Transparency of School Libraries
Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano (all R-10) introduced legislation that would require public schools to post a comprehensive list of all resources available in school libraries to their website to better inform parents of potentially inappropriate materials their children can access.

“When most people think of school libraries, they probably imagine a room full of old, classic books along and a few computers scattered here and there. While this may have been true a decade or two ago, school libraries nowadays contain far more resources than just books, and many parents may be shocked to see exactly what materials are available to their children,” said Sen. Holzapfel. “Today’s modern library contains access to all sorts of controversial topics, including books and articles about critical race theory (CRT)—which indoctrinates students with the absurd belief that people are inherently privileged, oppressive, or morally deficient due to little more than the circumstances of their birth. This legislation will make sure that public schools list all of this information online so that parents know precisely what type of information is accessible by their children.”
10th District Lawmakers: ‘Veteran Owned Businesses Deserve Better’
The 10th District Legislators are demanding action regarding the failures of New Jersey to award veteran owned businesses state contracts. Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano believe major changes must be made to ensure the State addresses this inadequacy and owns up to the mandates which are required by law.

“Veteran owned businesses are not looking for government handouts, they are looking for opportunities for growth,” said Senator Holzapfel. “We recognize the many sacrifices our veterans have made and it’s only fair that they are rewarded once their service to our country is complete. Governor Murphy needs to take immediate action for this glaring failure to our veteran owned businesses.”

Police Officers Deserved Better from the NJ Supreme Court, 10th District Lawmakers Say
Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano (all R-10) issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court decision to release the man convicted of murdering New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster on the Turnpike in 1973:

“The State Supreme Court’s decision to free a cold-blooded cop-killer is distasteful and exasperating. The court’s callous leniency is insulting to the men and women of law enforcement who put their lives on the line to protect New Jersey residents. Sundiata Acoli was sentenced to life for the assassination of a State Trooper in the line of duty. At this contentious time when police officers across our nation are being challenged, threatened, and targeted more than ever, we would have hoped the court would be more supportive of the Parole Board and the appellate court sentiments that would have held Acoli behind bars where he belongs.”

“In recent years we have watched how the Democrats have pushed through legislation to support their progressive agenda under the guise of diversity and tolerance,” stated Senator Holzapfel. “I will always stand for the rights of parents and fight to protect our children’s innocence. It is important to me that as New Jerseyans we honor our family values and my voting record will always reflect that.”
10th District Lawmakers: ‘We Told You So’
Democrats’ Education Agenda is Attack on Family Values, Parental Rights
Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano today berated Governor Murphy’s Democrat-led Legislature in Trenton for the “woke” curriculum that elementary school students will find when they crack open their schoolbooks next fall.

As the result of legislation passed and signed into law in 2019 and 2021, combined with updated health and physical education standards promulgated by the State Board of Education in 2020, students as young as Kindergarten will role play about gender types and pressure to conform, and by 8th Grade they will learn about vaginal, oral and anal sex.
Holzapfel, McGuckin & Catalano Say Murphy Gets an ‘F’ on School Aid Proposal
Gov. Phil Murphy gets a failing grade on his state school aid proposal, say Sen. Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano. Once again, Brick and Toms River school districts find themselves facing massive aid cuts while the governor’s funding formula favors a handful of urban districts.

“Governor Murphy’s proposal allocates nearly half the new state aid to 11 cities, while slashing $185 million in aid to nearly 200 suburban districts, including two of the largest in my district,” Holzapfel (R-Ocean) said. “That’s unconscionable when we are not only facing a school staffing shortage, but trying to give our students some sense of normalcy coming out of Murphy’s masking and lockdown orders.”
10th District Legislators: Self-Serve Gas Stations Will Not Lower Fuel Prices
Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Greg McGuckin and John Catalano responded to the introduction of Assembly bill A3105, which would allow individuals to voluntarily pump their own gas at stations throughout New Jersey.

“Many states over the years have started down the path of offering a self-service option at gas stations, only to eventually take away that option, and make self-service mandatory,” said Senator Holzapfel. “This bill will eventually do the same—it will lead to a permanent establishment of self-service gas stations in New Jersey. People will be required to get out of their cars during the cold winter months, fiddle with their cash or credit cards, and pump their own gas for no discount in price.”
